I became interested in Henry Ford in one of my business classes, where we learned about his impact on manufacturing. This inspired me to read his autobiography to gain insight into the man himself.

Henry Ford (1863–1947) was an American industrialist and founder of the Ford Motor Company. He revolutionized the automobile industry by introducing the Model T in 1908, making cars affordable for the average American. Ford's most significant contribution was his development of the modern assembly line, which drastically increased production efficiency and lowered costs. This innovation transformed manufacturing worldwide.

Born on a farm in Michigan, Ford had a passion for mechanics from a young age. He worked as an engineer before founding the Ford Motor Company in 1903. Beyond business, he was known for his controversial views, including his opposition to labor unions and his publication of antisemitic writings.

Despite these flaws, his impact on industry, transportation, and American society was profound. Ford died in 1947, leaving a complex legacy as both a pioneer of mass production and a figure of social controversy.

I must admit that I learned many valuable lessons from his book, which I found to be very insightful. He viewed business as a service to society rather than for personal gain. This was one of the recurring themes in the book.
